  • Fact Check: Viral video showing Cong leaders celebrating is not after the zero defeat in recent Delhi polls The Bharatiya Janata Party won the Delhi Assembly election by bagging 48 out of the total 70 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bagged Claim : Viral video shows Congress leaders celebrating after the humiliating defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections 2025Fact : The video is an old one showing the celebration of the launch of their theme song for the Delhi assembly elections in 2025The Bharatiya Janata Party won the Delhi Assembly election by bagging 48 out of the total 70 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bagged only 22 seats and Congress did not win even a single seat. This will be the first time in four decades that a single party will be governing all the National Capital Region (NCR) states, including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. This is also known to be one of India's most important economic corridors. Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was among the prominent leaders who lost their seats. The BJP is yet to reveal its Chief minister candidate for Delhi. Meanwhile, the Congress party which was hoping for its revival in the national capital has registered zero tally in the assembly polls. Despite contesting in all the 70 seats, the party’s candidates lost their deposits on 67 of them in a huge fallout. Amidst all this, a video showing Delhi’s Congress party members celebrating and dancing is in circulation with the claim that the party members are celebrating in spite of acquiring no seats in the Delhi assembly elections. The caption in English goes “Celebration at Congress HQ as they HAT- TRICK successful Zero win”. Here is the archive link of the claim. Fact Check: The claim is Misleading. When we checked one of the X posts that shared the video, a X user named MrSinha shared credit to Radhika Khera. When searched for the video on Radhika Khera’s X account, we found that she shared this video on January 24, 2025 with the caption in Hindi that goes “दिल्ली में 4.26% वोट वाली कांग्रेस का ‘भांगड़ा’ देख कर लगा, जैसे सियासी दफ्तर नहीं, ‘पागलखाने का वार्ड’ खुल गया हो! जिनकी राजनीति को जनता ने बार-बार नकारा, वो अब अपनी हार पर ही जश्न मनाने में मस्त हैं! कांग्रेस का नया नारा—‘हारो, नाचो, भूल जाओ!’” When translated it states: “Seeing the 'Bhangra' of Congress which got 4.26% votes in Delhi, it is being felt as if it is not a political office but a 'ward of a mental asylum' that had been opened! whose politics have been repeatedly rejected by the people, Now he is busy celebrating his defeat! Congress's new slogan-'Lose, dance, forget!'” X handle of News 24 also shared a similar video of the leaders dancing to the tunes with the caption stating the Delhi Congress launches theme song. Many leaders, including Ragini Nayak, Abhay Dubey, and Pawan Khera, danced with great enthusiasm. This video was also shared by others on January 23, 2025 with captions like “जीत हार से परे..कांग्रेस पार्टी ने ढोल नगाड़े के साथ दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए अपने "थीम सॉन्ग" को लॉन्च किया..पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेताओं ने भी थीम सॉन्ग पर थिडक कर कार्यकर्ताओं का उत्साह बढ़ाया..” When translated it states: “Beyond victory and defeat.. Congress party launched its "theme song" for Delhi assembly elections with drums.. Senior party leaders also danced to the theme song and boosted the morale of the workers.” Therefore, the claim that the Congress leaders are dancing after the zero defeat in the Delhi assembly elections 2025 is Misleading. The video is shot on January 23, 2025, when the party launched its theme song for the Delhi assembly elections.
