Fact Check: Old clip of Kashmiri students celebrating falsely linked to Australia's World Cup win

The video is two years old, and shows alleged celebrations by Kashmiri students following a Pakistan T20 World Cup win in 2021.
Australia clinched the ICC World Cup for the sixth time, breaking India's home-tournament dominance with a six-wicket victory. In its aftermath, a viral video of people celebrating jubilantly in what appears to be a hostel surfaced on social media.
Many alleged that this video showed students from the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar celebrating Australia's victory over India in the 2023 World Cup.
A user on X shared the viral video and wrote, "Kashmiri Students of SKIMS celebrating Australia’s win over India." An archived version of this post can be seen here.
India Today found that the viral video is two years old and unrelated to the just-concluded ICC World Cup 2023.
Our Probe
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led to a Mojo Story video report shared on YouTube on October 26, 2021. The report contained the viral clip and highlighted that students faced charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for allegedly celebrating Pakistan's victory against India in a T20 World Cup match. The description further noted that criminal cases had been filed against students from Government Medical College and SKIMS in Srinagar.
Another report by ABP News from the same period confirmed the invocation of UAPA against SKIMS students for allegedly chanting pro-Pakistan slogans after Pakistan's victory in the T20 World Cup.
The Wire reported on October 26, 2021, that alongside students, college management and hostel wardens also faced charges made by the Jammu and Kashmir police after the video of the students went viral.
Thus, it's clear that this video has nothing to do with the ICC World Cup 2023.
