This video dates back to September 19, 2023, when Erdan protested against Iran President Ebrahim Raisi during his speech.
Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, a video of the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations being dragged out by security personnel from the General Assembly is making rounds on social media. Those sharing the video claimed that the incident was recent and connected to the ongoing conflict.
The video shows Gilad Erdan, Israel's ambassador to the UN General Assembly, holding a poster bearing the message, "Iranian Women Deserve Freedom Now." The video features a text that reads, "Israeli Ambassador kicked out of the UN General Assembly."
A social media user while sharing the video wrote: "KICKED OUT OF UN ASSEMBLY: Hot off the press, folks! We've got some sizzling news straight from the heart of global diplomacy. The Israeli Ambassador just received a not-so-warm welcome at the United Nations Assembly and was asked to leave accompanied by security!" An archived version of one such post can be seen here.
India Today Fact Check found that the video is from September this year and is unrelated to the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel.

A subsequent search using relevant keywords led us to a WION report from September 20, 2023, which featured screenshots from the viral video. According to the report, Gilad Erdan, the Israeli envoy to the United Nations, made a powerful statement during the General Assembly by holding a photograph of Mahsa Amini. Amini had allegedly died in police custody in Iran last year after being arrested for opposing and violating the country's strict Hijab dress code.
Reportedly, the incident happened when the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi was addressing the General Assembly on September 19. Following his protest, Erdan was detained by the security personnel of the UN after he called Raisi “a vile murderer.” However, a spokesperson of the UN refuted the allegations of the Israeli diplomat's detention.
As quoted by the UK Independent, the UN security discussed the matter with Erdan, and the incident was considered resolved.
The YouTube channel of Wall Street Journal also carried the same video which was uploaded on September 20, making it clear that the video dates back to September 19 and has no connection whatsoever to the ongoing conflict.
Gilad Erdan's recent address at the United Nations Security Council on October 31 stirred controversy after he chose to wear a yellow Star of David on his chest during his speech. The yellow Star of David was notoriously used by the Nazis to identify Jews during the Holocaust.
