These posts featured hashtags like “Bhana Sidhu”, referring to the popular Punjabi YouTuber, or captions soliciting support for him.
Further, we found videos matching the visuals of the viral footage, showing the protest site from various angles. In one such video from January 29, the protest's location was mentioned as Kot Dhunna in the Barnala district of Punjab. Notably, this is Sidhu's hometown.
Additionally, we came across news reports detailing the protest in Kot Dhunna, in solidarity with Bhana Sidhu, featuring visuals similar to the viral video.
WHO IS BHANA SIDHU?
Bhana alias Kaka Sidhu, is a social media influencer who boasts over one million followers. His content focuses on rural and youth-centric issues in Punjab. He has also appeared in many Punjabi films and comedy series. Sidhu and his family have ties with the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh.
Recently, Sidhu was arrested in connection with an extortion case filed by a female travel agent from Chandigarh. She accused him of coercion, threats, and demanding Rs 10,000 from her. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Sidhu on January 21, leading to protests in his hometown.
Thus, it’s clear that this video has nothing to do with the ongoing “Delhi Chalo” protest.
