New Delhi (Vishvas News). In today’s digital era, cybercriminals are constantly finding new ways to deceive people. In May, a post went viral on social media featuring a woman and an elderly man. In the video, the man is seen offering 20-25 lakh rupees to anyone who can impregnate the woman. The post has received around 3,800 likes and has been shared 165 times.
An investigation by Vishvas News revealed that this is yet another form of cyber fraud. Cybercriminals are targeting unemployed individuals and others, using such posts to trick them into paying large sums of money. Recently, the police in Nawada, Bihar, uncovered a gang involved in this scam, which falsely promised a job of impregnating women to lure victims.
What is in the viral post?
Facebook user ‘Pregnant job’ posted the video on May 19, 2024 (archive link).
Facebook user ‘All India job pregnant company service’ also posted a similar job offer (archive link) on November 30, 2024.
Additionally, there is also a website named ‘Pregnant Job’ promoting similar claims.
Investigation
When we called the given number, 7205051473, to verify the viral claim, we were asked to contact them via WhatsApp. Upon doing so, we received a recorded audio message stating, “I am speaking from Baby Birth Company, New Delhi. Many women contact the company for the happiness of having a child. The company arranges a meeting of the candidate with those women. That person is given Rs 13 lakh, out of which Rs five lakh is given in advance and the remaining amount is given after the woman becomes pregnant.”
The message further stated, “There is a proper agreement for this so that no one faces any problem. The woman’s photo, contact number and advance will be given only after the agreement with the company. For the agreement, first the person’s identity card like Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving license or copy of voter ID card and a photo will be required. Rs 500 will have to be paid for the agreement. Half an hour later, the woman’s photo, Aadhaar card and contact number will be available. Along with that, an advance amount will be given. The woman will bear the cost of boarding and lodging.”
The gang was caught in Nawada, Bihar
After hearing the recorded audio, we found the number mentioned in the post suspicious. For further verification, we searched it on Google using relevant keywords. According to the news published on Hindustan’s website on January 11, 2025, “Nawada police have arrested three accused. It is alleged that they used to lure people with the promise of a job of making women pregnant. The accused were doing this fraud in the name of a baby birth company. They used to promise Rs 25 lakh to make childless women pregnant. They were promised Rs 5 lakh even if they did not get pregnant.”
The news also stated, “The accused used to promote Play Boy Service and All India Pregnant Job Service by posting on social media. After seeing the post, Aadhar card, PAN card, account number and photo were asked from the people who contacted them. They used to take Rs 500 from people in the name of registration. Then money was extorted in the name of other fees. In December 2023 also, the police had busted a similar gang, eight people were caught who cheated people by luring them with the job of making women pregnant.”
A related report was published by BBC on January 10, 2024, in which a victim narrated his experience of being defrauded. According to the report, a victim came across a similar advertisement and contacted the fraudster. Initially, he was asked to pay Rs 799 as registration fees. He was told that he would be working for a Mumbai-based company and, after signing up, he would receive the woman’s details. For this job, he was promised Rs five lakh along with an additional reward of Rs eight lakh if the woman became pregnant. After this, he was asked to pay Rs 16,000 under the pretext of legal documents, security, and GST.
According to the report, “Fake court documents and receipts were shared with the victim, mentioning his name and a picture of a man in police uniform, labelled as ‘Baby Birth Agreement’. To deceive him further, the fraudsters sent pictures of 7-8 women and even promised to book a hotel room in the city for the meeting. When the victim asked for the advance payment, a receipt was shared with him stating that more than five lakhs had been deposited into his bank account. However, he was told that the funds were put on hold and could only be released after paying Rs 12,600 as income tax. When he refused to pay, he was threatened with an income tax raid.”
We also scanned the website that claims to offer such jobs. It displays a different contact number and lacks the ‘About Us’ or ‘Contact Us’ section. The website was registered on April 5, 2024.
Process Used in the Scam:
Fake posts or advertisements: Scammers lure victims by posting deceptive job offers or advertisements on social media platforms.
Agreement: Victims are asked for an identity card, photo, and a registration fee of Rs 500 or Rs 799 in the name of the agreement.
Fake Documents: After paying the registration fee, scammers send a fraudulent document claiming to be from the company.
Money Extortion: Money is demanded under false pretences, such as GST and security deposit. Victims are also misled by giving false information that their account is on hold to extort more money.
Sending Pictures: When the victim asks for an advance payment, some pictures of women are sent to him as fake proof. If they refuse to pay more, they are threatened with an income tax raid.
We spoke to Nawada Cyber Cell Incharge DSP Priya Jyoti, about this scam. She revealed that the accused posted fraudulent job offers of impregnating women on social media. When someone responded, they were asked to pay a registration fee of Rs 2000-2500. Once the payment was made, the fraudsters created and sent fake Playboy Service ID cards along with the videos and pictures of women. After this, the fraudsters demanded more money as hotel charges, GST etc. Some such videos were recovered from the accused’s phone during the investigation.
We scanned the profile of the user who posted the fake job offer. This page was created on May 19, 2024, and contains only fraudulent posts. The page has 214 followers.
Conclusion: Cybercriminals have been posting fake job offers to impregnate women and lure people by promising them a large sum of money. Bihar’s Nawada police had busted one such gang. Beware of such frauds and stay vigilant.
