Our Probe
Using reverse search, we found that the viral image was used in a WION News report from December 31, 2018, about how the Indian army had averted an infiltration bid by Pakistan’s Border Action Team along the LoC in Kashmir’s Naugam Sector on December 30, 2018. In this report, the viral image can be seen at the 16-second mark.
At this point in the video, it is stated: “From the bodies of these two who have been killed, the Indian army says that they are Pakistan’s regular soldiers and they have been killed. Now they are making an offer to the Pakistan authorities to take these bodies back.”
This image was also used in a Zee news article ( https://zeenews.india.com/india/indian-army-identifies-pakistani-soldier-among-intruders-killed-along-loc-2167000.html ) and video report ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwEOE7uBAWc ).
ANI too had tweeted about this incident and said that Quadcopters were used to locate the dead bodies of suspected Pakistani soldiers in this incident.
As per another report in India TV News at the time, the Indian army had accused Pakistan of providing support to the intruders.
Thus, it’s clear that a five-year-old was falsely shared in the context of the recent encounter in Rajouri.
