Quick Take
A social media post claims that you can see the strength of the immune system by looking at the eyes. The closeness of the fibers reflects the body’s level of health & strength. We fact-checked and found this claim to be False.
The Claim
A social media post reads the following,
“Amazing fact
You can see the strength of the immune system by looking at the eyes.
The closeness of the fibers reflects the body’s level of health & strength. The stronger the constitution, the greater the ability to heal from illness.”

Fact-Check
Can eyes be indicative of any diseases in the body?
Sometimes. Xeropthalmia or dry eyes can be a sign of immune system problems. In Sjögren’s syndrome (an autoimmune and rheumatic disease), your immune system dries up tears that keep your eyes moist. There are certain immunologic diseases that cause atrophy, scarring, and other distortions of normal iris structures as part of the disease. So, it may be possible to detect illness from autoimmune disease by looking at these structures. It is not possible to determine overall immune health or strength by looking at the iris.
Investigating unconventional methods for evaluating health, such as eye fiber analysis, can complement discussions on various health topics, including the claims made about hydroxychloroquine.
As researchers explore novel approaches to understanding immune health, it’s vital to consider how shifts in hormone levels, like testosterone, may influence overall health and resilience.
Can you determine the strength of your immune system by looking at the fibers of the eyes?
No. There is no substantial evidence till now that proves that the strength of your immune system can be determine by looking at the fibres of the eyes.
An article titled “What Your Eyes Reveal About Your Overall Health” does not mention fibers in the eye as being any sort of indicator of immunity strength. Therefore, the claim remains false until proven otherwise.
We asked Dr. Aftab Alam, MBBS, DO (Ophthalmology) to confirm if there is any link between the strength of our immune system and the fibres in our eyes. In response, he said “ There is no link between the two. Furthermore, there is no scientific evidence that proves this claim to be true.”
