  • Fact Check: Human-caused climate change is a scientific fact but not a political hoax Climate change isn’t about politics—it’s based on science. Human-caused climate change is a proven fact, backed by almost every scientific institution worldwide. Claim :Climate change is a political hoax Fact :Climate change isn’t about politics—it's about science. Human-caused climate change is a proven fact, supported by almost every scientific institution worldwide Climate change became a political issue in the 1970s when activists began formal efforts addressing environmental crises at a global level. International policies on climate change have emphasized cooperation and setting global guidelines to tackle global warming. One widely accepted agreement is the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which has evolved over time to face new challenges. At the national -level, governments have worked on two fronts: creating internal measures to cut greenhouse gas emissions and adapting international guidelines into domestic laws. In the 21st century, climate policies have shifted towards focusing on the most vulnerable communities affected by environmental changes. However, the treatment of developing nations has been a longstanding concern in climate discussions. Reflecting on the history of climate change policies offers insights into one of the most complex challenges humanity has created for itself. Many social media users posted the claim that "Climate change is a political hoax." Fact Check: The claim is false. Climate change isn’t about politics—it’s about science. Human-caused climate change is a proven reality, supported by nearly every scientific institution worldwide. During the search, we found a article published by United Nation. Climate scientists have shown that human activities are responsible for nearly all global warming over the past 200 years. Greenhouse gas emissions from these activities are driving the Earth’s temperature to rise faster than at any point in the last 2,000 years. The Earth’s surface is now about 1.2°C warmer than it was in the late 1800s, making it the hottest it has been in 100,000 years. The last decade (2011-2020) was the warmest on record, with each of the last four decades hotter than the previous since 1850. While many associate climate change with rising temperatures, it triggers widespread impacts due to the interconnected nature of Earth's systems. These effects include severe droughts, water shortages, wildfires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting ice caps, powerful storms, and loss of biodiversity. As per the UN based article, it is proven that human activities are the primary cause of climate change. While searching more, we found the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has published an article. The IPCC is an organization which provides regular assessments of the scientific basis of climate change, its impacts and future risks, and options for adaptation and mitigation. In the article, the IPCC mentioned climate change is fundamentally a scientific issue, not a political one. Decades of global research by climate scientists has established that human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, are the primary drivers of global warming. This conclusion is supported by nearly all major scientific organizations worldwide. The evidence is clear: increasing temperatures, shrinking glaciers, and more frequent extreme weather events. Tackling climate change demands decisions grounded in science and facts, rather than being sidetracked by political arguments. Upon more investigation, we also found a document on World Bank site. In the article, the World Bank mentioned climate change is a scientific challenge, not a political matter. It is caused by quantifiable factors such as greenhouse gas emissions, primarily resulting from human activities. Scientists overwhelmingly agree on the urgent need to tackle it through effective, evidence-based actions. However, political disagreements often delay progress, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing scientific solutions to address this global issue efficiently. Hence, we found the claim is false. As per our investigation, along with reports from various media outlets, climate change isn’t about politics—it’s based on science. Human-caused climate change is a proven fact, backed by almost every scientific institution worldwide.
