James Lankford uncovered evidence that led to California Rep. Nancy Pelosi having confessed to Congress about criminal activity. Verdict: False The claim is baseless. There is no indication that Pelosi has confessed to any crime. Fact Check: Pelosi’s campaign paid over $7,000 to a man after he sued them from “invasive and harassing” fundraising texts, Business Insider reported. Illinois resident Jorge Rojas sued Pelosi’s campaign on the basis of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The Facebook post purporst Pelosi confessed to committing crimes to congress. The post allegedly shares a video which shows Pelosi confessing to an unspecified crime after Lankford charged her. “Lankford CHARGES Pelosi’s Witness as She CONFESSES in Congress,” the caption reads. “REGRETS as She Tries to HIDE Proof.” The caption is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests Pelosi has confessed to any crime. There is no mention of this incident on any of Pelosi’s verified social media accounts. Likewise, there is no mention of it from Lankford on his social media accounts. The video is a collection of two separate clips from Senate hearings. The first clip is an exchange between Lankford and the former Capitol Hill Police Chief Steven Sund. Sund was asked about his letter that he addressed to Pelosi in which he shares his experience of the events on Jan. 6, 2021. The second clip is a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Immigration policy. Sen. John Cornyn questioned Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on his procedures at the border.
