  • The Kaaba Sharif, located in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, holds significant importance for Muslims. It is known as the House of Allah. Over the past few years, some information has been circulating on the internet claiming advice or formulas from the Imam of the Kaaba Sharif. It is alleged that the current Imam of Kaaba Sharif, Sheikh Abdur Rahman Al Sudais, has recommended performing three special actions every day during the last ten days of Ramadan: 1. Donate one dirham daily. If done on Laylatul Qadr, you will be rewarded as if you donated every day for 84 years or 1000 months. 2. Perform two Rak’ahs of Nafl Salah every day. If done on Laylatul Qadr, it is as if you have performed it daily for 84 years. 3. Recite Surah Ikhlas three times daily. If done on Laylatul Qadr, it is considered as if you have completed one Quran recitation daily for 84 years. It is also claimed that he further stated, “Spread these words among people. If they act upon this after hearing from you, you will earn an equivalent reward, InshaAllah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, ‘The one who guides to something good is rewarded similarly to the one who performs it, without reducing the performer’s reward in any way.’ (Muslim, 2674)” Observations by the Rumor Scanner team have shown that although these remarks have been attributed to the current Imam Sheikh Abdur Rahman Al Sudais since 2023, similar claims were previously made in the name of another Imam of the Kaaba, Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly. Fact Check The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation has determined that neither Imam Sheikh Abdur Rahman Al Sudais nor Imam Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly have advised performing these three special actions daily during the last ten days of Ramadan. This claim is incorrect; no Imam of the Kaaba has issued such guidance. This conclusion has been verified by reliable sources and the official source of the Haramain Sharif. Early in the investigation, an attempt to trace the origin of this claim led us to the Facebook page of Islamic speaker Abdul Hi Muhammad Saifullah. A post from May 2, 2021, on Saifullah’s page was claimed to be advice from Imam Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly’s sermon. We inquired with Ali Hasan Taib, the translator mentioned in this post. He claimed that, “I discovered it in an Arabic magazine attributed to Sheikh Maher. However, I couldn’t confirm whether he mentioned this in a sermon or elsewhere.” He suggested that whether or not these words were spoken by him, treating them not as Hadith or Sunnah but simply as a strategy for actions should not be problematic. Using Facebook’s advanced search techniques, it was observed that a post by Nazim Uddin on May 27, 2016, debunked the claim as false, marking it as potentially the first Bangla post on this issue. However, upon examining the edit history, it was noted that sections debunking the claim and mentioning the Imam’s formulas were added in July 2019. Prior to that, the post contained an image, which was later removed, and its contents remain unknown. Three days after Mr. Nizam’s post, on May 30 of that year, Maulana Muhammad Nurul Mohsin, the current principal of Kalauzan Shah Rashidia Fazil Madrasah in Lohagara, Chattogram, posted about the claim, identifying it as the oldest related active post known to us. The following year, a post in English addressing the same claim was noticed. In other words, at least since 2016, the same statement or formula has been attributed to two Imams of the Kaaba. In this context, a post from June 20, 2016, by the ‘Incorrect Ahadith Defused’ page, based in the United Arab Emirates, was discovered during a search for relevant keywords on Facebook. This post declared that there is no truth to the information being circulated in the name of the Kaaba’s Imam. It also mentioned that similar advice had previously been circulated under the name of Egyptian Islamic personality Amr Khaled. Unable to find any information about any Kaaba Imam making such statements in Saudi Arabian media or from any reliable source, we reached out to Rayan Adil, the founder of the Saudi fact-checking organization ‘No Rumors.’ He confirmed that no Imam of the Kaaba has made such statements, labeling it as part of a scam. Rayan highlighted that the posts mentioning the Imam’s advice involve dirhams, even though the Saudi Riyal has been the official currency of Saudi Arabia since its establishment, not the dirham. Furthermore, during our investigation, the ‘Inside the Haramain’ verified page, associated with the Haramain Sharif, also clarified that the viral issue is incorrect. Bottom Line Claims about a formula or advice from the Imam of Kaaba Sharif for the last ten days of Ramadan have been circulating on the internet for several years. Despite attributions to the current Imam Sheikh Abdur Rahman Al Sudais since 2023 and earlier to another Imam, Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly, our investigation has confirmed that no Imam of the Kaaba has provided such advice, as verified by reliable sources and official Haramain Sharif channels. So, the circulated information about the Kaaba Sharif Imam advising three specific actions daily during the last ten days of Ramadan is false.
