Amid heightened conflict between Israel and Hamas, and continuous rocket attacks and airstrikes against each other, a video has gone viral claiming to be the Israeli air defence system in action.
Several Facebook users have posted a video showing a dramatic exchange of fire between anti-aircraft guns and a fighter plane. The video shows anti-aircraft guns going full blast targetting the jet, while the latter manoeuvres through the hail of artillery. The Facebook caption reads, "Israel Defense System".

AFWA investigation
Using reverse image search, we found that the video was uploaded by several users on YouTube earlier. On May 14, a user posted the video on YouTube with a title in Arabic which translates to, "Bombing the Israeli air force". In the details section, however, he wrote that the video was created by simulation in ARMA 3.
ARMA 3 is an open-world, realism-based, military tactical shooting video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive, a Czech video game developer based in Prague.
The YouTuber claims he created the video through ARMA 3 simulation. "I definitely don't want to give the impression that I glorify war, I am just an enthusiastic gamer. The weapon systems are of course used differently in real life, but I am happy to educate you about these weapons systems, many do not even know that they exist. This video was created using the content of ArmA 3 - A - 10 Warthog vs Anti - Air Tank - Missiles and Tracers firing - GAU - 8 Avenger - Simulation Link no longer available," he wrote.
But we found that the video existed on the Internet even before May 14. On January 25, another YouTube channel named "Compared Combat" uploaded a longer version of the same video. The title of this video reads, "ArmA 3 - Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar System in Action".
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has confirmed they are using the Iron Dome air defence systems against Hamas rocket attacks. The original missile defence system in action can be seen in the following Facebook post by IDF.
Hence, it is clear that the viral Facebook post is an ARMA 3 video game simulation and not actual visuals of Israel's air defence system.
