  • Welsh captain Alun Wyn Jones will set a new record for Test caps of 149 when he leads out his team in Llanelli for the Six Nations match with Scotland on Saturday. The 35-year-old lock -- who will win his 140th Wales cap to add to the nine Lions Tests he has played -- breaks the record he held with retired New Zealand legend Richie McCaw. "He's (Jones) a true leader and it's a phenomenal achievement," said Wales head coach Wayne Pivac. "He not only leads by example in the games but in training, he's magnificent in the way he carries himself." Pivac believes Jones is in such good physical shape he could make the 2023 World Cup -- which would be his fifth. "If you look at it on ability and form, right now, I would have to say that there is no reason why he (Jones) couldn't go to a World Cup, should he stay injury free," said Pivac said. "Everybody, though, does have that time when the body starts to slow down. Some go off a cliff quicker than others. "But there is no reason why Alun Wyn couldn't be one of those where you throw away the birth certificate and you just look at what he's doing on a daily basis. "At the moment, he's first on the teamsheet." Pivac, who has endured a tough start to his spell in charge of the 2019 Grand Slam champions, with just one win in the four Six Nations games, gives a Test debut to Shane Lewis-Hughes. The Cardiff Blues flanker joins the experienced duo of Taulupe Faletau and Justin Tipuric in the back row while there is a first start for the once-capped Will Rowlands who partners Jones in the second row. Rowlands came off second best with Wasps in the English Premiership final last Saturday against Exeter -- the champions' prop Tomas Francis also starts against the Scots. The Welsh will be bidding to round off their Six Nations, which was halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, on a winning note and deny the Scots their first win in Wales since 2002.
