The Athletics had remained at their team hotel in Houston following a road series against the Astros after a positive test Saturday following a 4-2 Oakland loss. With a COVID-19 delayed and shortened season set to conclude on September 27 before expanded playoffs begin, the Athletics are 22-12, second to Tampa Bay in the American League and 2.5 games ahead of Houston atop the AL West division. About 40 games have been postponed since the campaign began in July in empty stadiums across the United States rather than a bubble atmosphere. Outbreaks on teams have forced major idle stretches for both the St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins. js/rcw
