Canada announced in its budget Monday a new target to cut CO2 emissions by 36 percent from 2005 levels by 2030, as it steps up efforts to get to net-zero by mid-century. The new climate goal -- up from a 30 percent cut agreed to in the Paris Agreement -- is backed by billions of dollars in new funding to help Canadian companies cut their CO2 emissions, as well as roll out carbon capture and storage technologies and switch to hydrogen fuel. amc/jm
