  • The industry section of the Cannes Film Festival, held online this year due to the pandemic, is being delayed by a month to the end of June, organisers said Thursday. The main part of the festival, including the star-studded competition for the Palme D'Or, is currently due to go ahead in person from July 6 to 17, having been delayed from its usual slot in May. But the film market which runs alongside, with thousands of industry representatives coming to buy and sell movies from all over the world, was moved online. It had been due to go ahead during the usual dates in May, but will now be held from June 21 to 25. Several groups had asked for the delay, saying the May dates came too quickly after last month's film market in Berlin. The industry get-together at Cannes is the biggest in the world, with some 2,768 films presented for sale at the last edition in 2019. fbe/er/kjl
