| - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton is glad to be back after "a crazy three weeks" in which he battled concussion symptoms and Covid-19. "It was a crazy three weeks for me, but I'm glad to be on the other side of it," Dalton told reporters as he looked forward to Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. "I'm glad to be back with everybody and through those three weeks." The veteran signal-caller was expected to take over quarterback duties after Dak Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in October. But Dalton suffered a concussion on October 25 on a helmet-to-helmet hit by Washington linebacker Jon Bostic. He missed the next week's game, but just as he was hoping to be cleared to return he was diagnosed with Covid-19. "It hit me hard the first day that I had it, and then gradually started feeling better," Dalton said. ""By the end of it, I was ready to get out of quarantine and get back up here." Dalton said he's still regaining his sense of smell and taste, and his wife and one of their sons also came down with the virus. Dalton's practice on Wednesday was his first in more than three weeks. "I thought he was decisive and threw the ball very well," Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said. "That's the biggest thing. As long as the ball is coming out on time and so forth, I thought he was in rhythm. Andy has excellent command, obviously, of the whole operation." bb/rcw
