The Seattle Mariners' home games against the Oakland Athletics scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday have been postponed after a positive COVID-19 case amongst the Athletics' organsation, Major League Baseball said. Major League Baseball said the games were being postponed out of an "abundance of caution". The Athletics have remained at their team hotel in Houston following a road series against the Astros. A member of the Oakland travelling party tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday after the Athletics 4-2 defeat at Minute Maid Park. The team carried out contact tracing for every member of the party and will remain at their hotel until late Monday pending results. Around 40 games have been postponed since the abbreviated MLB season got under way in July. MLB chiefs restarted the league with teams playing at their home venues instead of basing clubs inside a protective "bubble" at a single location. rcw/gph
