French rugby giants Stade Francais revealed Wednesday that some of their players have developed "lung lesions" due to the coronavirus. The Paris club said that the discovery meant that a planned pre-season friendly against Toulon on August 27 has had to be postponed. The players concerned will also have their period of isolation extended by a week, Stade said in a statement. "In light of the mandatory medical examinations for all players who have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19, it appears that some of them have lung lesions due to the virus," said the club. "These lesions require a period of complete rest estimated for the moment at a minimum of one week and which will be added to the fortnight already observed." A source close to the club confirmed reports in French sports daily L'Equipe that around 20 cases of the virus have been detected since the beginning of August. The friendly match against Brive, scheduled for August 14, had also been cancelled. Stade are due to kick-off their Top 14 season on September 4 with a home game against Bordeaux-Begles. mca/ole/dj/td
