Hull KR boss Tony Smith believes Rugby League will become the latest sport in Britain to go into lockdown because of the coronavirus. While the majority of professional sports in the United Kingdom have already called a temporary halt to play, Rugby League carried on this weekend and Smith's Super League side beat second tier Leigh 22-19 in the Challenge Cup on Sunday. But Smith does not expect that to last for too much longer, especially with the British government reportedly considering a ban on mass public gatherings in a bid to stop the spread of the deadly pandemic. "I think everybody's looking for an indication on what's coming next for sport and our sport in particular," Smith said. "We will probably go along with the trend of most other sports. I can't see us being the exception for too much longer. "This round of course we were lucky to get through and I'd be surprised if there wasn't a break." Smith revealed Ryan Brierley had been away from the Hull KR squad after displaying cold-like symptoms during the week before returning to training. smg/td
