  • World champions France were at full strength for their opening Euro 2020 match against Germany on Tuesday with star forwards Antoine Griezmann, Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe spearheading a formidable attack. Benzema is playing his first competitive international since France lost to Germany in the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup after being recalled to the national team by Didier Deschamps following a five-and-a-half-year exile. Bayern Munich defenders Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez are included in the French defence for the Group F clash at the Allianz Arena, the pair's home club ground. Both teams are captained by goalkeepers with Manuel Neuer between the sticks for Germany and Hugo Lloris in the French goal. To counter the France attack, Germany coach Joachim Loew has named a three-man central defence as expected. Chelsea centre-back Antonio Ruediger lines up alongside 2014 World Cup winners Mats Hummels and Matthias Ginter. Real Madrid star Toni Kroos and Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan were named in central midfield with Joshua Kimmich and Atalanta's Robin Gosens on the flanks. Thomas Mueller makes his 103rd Germany appearance as part of a three-man attack alongside Champions League winner Kai Havertz and Bayern team-mate Serge Gnabry. Leon Goretzka was left out the matchday squad after failing to recover in time from a leg injury. Starting line-ups: Germany (3-4-3) Manuel Neuer (capt); Matthias Ginter, Mats Hummels, Antonio Ruediger; Joshua Kimmich, Ilkay Gundogan, Toni Kroos, Robin Gosens; Kai Havertz, Thomas Mueller, Serge Gnabry Coach: Joachim Loew (GER) France (4-3-3) Hugo Lloris (capt); Benjamin Pavard, Raphael Varane, Presnel Kimpembe, Lucas Hernandez; Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kante, Adrien Rabiot; Antoine Griezmann, Karim Benzema, Kylian Mbappe Coach: Didier Deschamps (FRA) Referee: Carlos del Cerro Grande (ESP) afp
