The US squad, which hasn't taken the field since beating Costa Rica 1-0 in February, is also looking for a second match next month as part of its European trip. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium as part of UEFA's protocols for the Covid-19 pandemic, which is the reason for the long break in play for the Americans. Berhalter will call upon European-based talent as well as some players from US clubs. "First and foremost, we are looking forward to getting the group together after such a challenging year," said Berhalter. "Wales is a quality opponent with high-level players, so it's a good opportunity to test ourselves." It marks the first time the US has played in Wales. The Welsh will also be preparing for matches against Ireland on Nov. 15 and Finland on Nov. 18. US players will take Covid-19 tests before traveling and after arrival and at least every other day while in a quarantine environment. The United States beat Wales 2-0 in 2003 at San Jose, California, in their only prior meeting. The Americans are starting preparations for next June's CONCACAF Nations League final four next June and the July 2021 Gold Cup as well as next September's start of the eight-team final round of 2022 World Cup qualifying. js/rcw
