Gerard Pique, Frenkie de Jong, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Clement Lenglet have all extended their Barcelona contracts while also agreeing to a "temporary salary adjustment", the club announced on Tuesday. Barca said in a statement: "The agreements have been reached following weeks of negotiations and include a temporary salary adjustment due to the current circumstances brought about the Covid-19 induced crisis." Pique has extended his deal until June 2024, subject to the defender making a certain number of appearances in the 2021-22 season. If Pique fulfils the contract, which includes a buy-out clause of 500 million euros, he will be 37 by the time it expires. Ter Stegen's commitment will perhaps be the biggest relief to Barcelona as he had been stalling on an extension. The goalkeeper's new deal takes him to June 2025, also with a 500 million euro buy-out clause. De Jong and Lenglet have each signed until June 2026 with buy-out clauses of 400 and 300 million euros respectively. The extensions were announced on Tuesday night, shortly after Barcelona had beaten Ferencvaros in their opening game of this season's Champions League. ta/td
