Montpellier's Georgian lock Konstantin Mikautadze is out for the season after rupturing his achilles tendon, the Top 14 club announced Tuesday. The 28-year-old ex-Toulon player, who has won 64 Georgian caps, sustained the injury in the 46th minute of the 19-15 defeat by Pau on the weekend. Mikautadze will undergo surgery on Wednesday and is expected to be out for six months. It is a blow for Montpellier, the giant Georgian lock having played in 14 matches out of a possible 17 this season, benefitting from the absence of Paul Willemse, his South African-born clubmate having been picked for France in the Six Nations. jmc/lp/mw
