Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Wednesday that five members of the team's offensive line have been sent home after right tackle Trent Brown was placed on the Covid-19 reserve list. Gruden said the five players had been ordered to stay away from the NFL team's training facilities as a precaution after coming into contact with Brown. "We're listening to the league and they're advising us on what to do," Gruden told reporters. "Trent Brown is not here today, his status is unknown. We had to send five of our starting linemen home today. Hopefully we'll get some players back for Sunday." The Raiders, who return to action this weekend following a bye week, are due to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Nevada on Sunday. Covid-19 cases continue to cause problems for teams around the NFL. Elsewhere on Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers placed kicker Joey Slye and offensive lineman Trent Scott on the Covid-19 reserve list, but remain on schedule to face New Orleans on Sunday. The Panthers worked remotely on Monday and Tuesday after an unconfirmed positive and neither player was at the team training facility those days. The Panthers already had blockers Tyler Larsen and Michael Schofield placed on the Covid-19 list, which applies to players who have tested positive for the deadly virus or have been in close contact with someone who has. Slye was the only kicker on the squad, leaving the club scrambling to fill the role before facing the Saints, while three lineman on the Covid-19 list could weaken depth among blockers for the Panthers as well. rcw/js
