schema:articleBody	Next month's Women's PGA Championship, a major tournament postponed from June by the coronavirus pandemic, will be staged without spectators, the PGA of America announced Friday. The event will be staged October 8-11 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. The decision to ban spectators was made in coordination with state and local health officials as a safety precaution for players and others involved with the event. "While we will, unfortunately, be unable to have spectators with us at the Women's PGA Championship, we're certain that the talented players in the field will inspire those watching around the globe," PGA of America President Suzy Whaley said. Aronimink, founded in 1896, hosted the 1962 PGA Championship won by Gary Player and will host the event again in 2026. "While we'll miss our spectators at the Women's PGA Championship this year, we will still impact young girls and boys all over the world, thanks to our worldwide television coverage," LPGA commissioner Mike Whan said. Australia's Hannah Green is the defending champion, winning last year at Hazeltine. The Women's PGA had been scheduled for June 25-28 but the LPGA season was shut by the virus from February to July 31. It will be the third women's major of the season after the Women's British Open and this week's ANA Inspiration in California. js/rcw
