  • WHAT WAS CLAIMED A video shows thousands of Kenyan migrants entering Germany. OUR VERDICT False. The video shows a passenger ferry in Kenya. AAP FACTCHECK - A video showing a large crowd streaming off a boat at dusk doesn't show migrants arriving in Germany, despite claims online. However, the clip actually shows evening commuters disembarking from a passenger ferry in Kenya. The false claim is in a Facebook video shared by an Australian account showing a crowd of people streaming off the bow ramp of a vehicular ferry. "Thousands of migrant MEN from Kenya enter Germany yesterday governments destroying countries from within," overlay text reads. The post's caption reads: "Here they come, it's a joke, listen to how happy they are, i guess id be happy too I mean I know it's Germany but it's coming to western countries soon you can mark my words on it". Other posts claim the video shows migrants arriving in Italy or Greece. However, the video was not filmed in Europe. A reverse image search shows it was originally posted on TikTok on March 14, 2025, by a user who appears to be based in Kenya. It was also shared on Facebook on the same day with the caption: "Likoni ferry crossing, mombasa Kenya ...late evening rush..... After a long day in mombasa town either working or shopping or just a tour .." The Likoni Ferry is a public transport service operating in the southeastern coastal city of Mombasa. The vessels carry both vehicles and passengers across Kilindini Harbour between Mombasa Island and the mainland suburb of Likoni. AAP FactCheck geolocated the clip and determined it was filmed as the ferry disembarked on Mombasa Island. The pavement's herringbone pattern and road markings in the Facebook video match those at the dock's location viewed on Google Maps. Distinctive trees, structures and a billboard are also visible in the background. AAP FactCheck is an accredited member of the International Fact-Checking Network.
