New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video is going viral on social media, claiming to feature Delhi Police beating two youths in the middle of the road. In the video, the youths can be heard shouting slogans, ‘Cow is our mother, police our father’. Some users are sharing this video, claiming that Delhi Police punished accused cow slaughterers publicly.
However, Vishvas News investigation revealed that the viral video is from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. In the video, the anchor states that Ujjain police were seen beating suspected cow smugglers, who then chanted the slogans ‘Cow is our mother, police is our father’. This video has no connection with Delhi.
What is in the viral post?
On March 4, X user Deepak Sharma shared the video (archive link), stating that it was of Delhi Police.
On March 4, Facebook user ‘Vinod Bhatt‘ also posted a reel (archive link) with the caption,
“Ever since Delhi police received instructions from Amit Shah ji
Delhi police is in full form right now
Cow killers are raising slogans… Cow is our mother and police is our father…
Brutality in the name of Mewat will not be tolerated anymore.”
Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we first analysed the video. In this, the anchor states that Ujjain police took out a procession of cow killers through the streets. During this, the accused kept shouting slogans like ‘Cow is our mother, police is our father’. There is no mention of Delhi in the video.
Based on this, we conducted a keyword search and found the same video uploaded on the PUNJAB KESARI MP YouTube channel on March 3, 2025. According to the video, Ujjain police took out a procession of cow killers.
According to a report published on Amar Ujala’s website on March 3, “The Ghattiya police of Ujjain took out a procession of two accused who were preparing to kill cows. The names of the accused are Salim and Aaqib. Their accomplice Sheru Mevati is absconding. The police seized a cow, a sickle, an iron rod, three iron knives and the Baleno car used in the incident from them.” Screenshots of the viral video can be seen in the report.
On March 3, a post was shared from SP Ujjain’s official X account. The post includes a picture of both the accused, along with a video of police officer Nitesh Bhargava. In the video, he explains that on February 16, officers from Ghattia police station received information about cattle found near a Swift Dzire, with some suspects present at the scene. The police later seized the cattle and the vehicle. The accused of cow smuggling have now been arrested.
Regarding the viral video, Amit, a crime reporter from Naiduniya in Ujjain, confirmed that the video is from Ujjain, where the police publicly paraded the accused of cow smuggling.
The user who claimed that the Ujjain video was from Delhi appears to be influenced by a particular ideology and has over 1.47 lakh followers.
Conclusion: The viral video shows Ujjain police had taken out a procession of the accused of cow smuggling, during which, the accused were heard chanting slogans like ‘Cow is our mother, police is our father’. However, the video is being misleadingly shared as an incident from Delhi.
