The coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is a highly transmittable and pathogenic viral infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).
Is there a cure for COVID-19?
Multiple vaccines have already been developed and used to fight Corona Virus, while some others are in the process of being developed.
Can Cabbage cure COVID-19?
Yes, maybe. There are some studies where researchers found a positive connection between cabbage and lower mortality rate from COVID-19. However, one of the false claims has advised people against eating cabbages as it acts an active carrier of Coronavirus, many others false claim also mentions that WHO has given a specific guideline against cabbage which is completely false.
These studies are built up on the hypothesis that fermented foods including cabbage, cucumber and other vegetables could be associated with a lower COVID-19 mortality due to their alleged antioxidant effect.
One of the claims also tells that neem leaves powder can cure coronavirus within hours. The claim was found mostly false.
However, these are population studies and many researchers believe that these needs to be studied further to reach to a conclusive evidence. “Diseases, just like species, evolve in time and space, and studying their distribution is a fundamental aspect of epidemiology,” writes a reviewer of the study. The experts have called for further studies during various phases of COVID-19 pandemic to reach to a conclusive evidence.
