  • A rumor that circulated online in June 2025 claimed actor Brad Pitt testified at rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex-trafficking trial. Users shared videos claiming Pitt told the court at Combs' New York trial that Combs forced Pitt into repeatedly engaging in sexual acts with him. However, Pitt didn't testify at Combs' trial. Searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no news media outlets credibly reporting that Pitt testified at the trial or made any such statements regarding sexual activity. The rumor amounted to nothing more than attempts by online creators to earn advertising revenue. Those creators executed their plans by asking artificial-intelligence tools to create videos and inauthentic thumbnail images promoting the false rumor. Snopes contacted a representative for Pitt by email to request comment regarding the fabricated rumor and will update this story if we receive more information. Pitt didn't testify against Combs Users shared this rumor on Facebook (archived), TikTok (archived) and YouTube (archived). For example, on June 10, a manager of the Celebrity Buzz (@celebritybuzz365) YouTube channel published a video titled (archived), "1 Minute Ago: Brad Pitt's Explosive Testimony Stuns Court in Diddy Trial Day 18." The video — not the first clip promoting the false rumor about Pitt testifying against Combs — received more than 339,000 views, as of this writing. The clip's thumbnail image displayed a fabricated CNN TV screenshot, complete with the cable news network's logo and the words "breaking news," as well as a fabricated quote reading, "F*** me once an hour." The thumbnail image showed a split-screen view of AI-generated photos depicting Pitt and Combs in a courtroom, as well as a third fake picture of Pitt reacting to engaging in sexual activity with Combs. A disclaimer featured in the YouTube video's description said of the thumbnail image, "We do not guarantee that these images reflect all details accurately," as well as, "We pledge that we do not intend to distort the truth, insult or spread false information about any individual." A separate disclaimer about the video's content read as follows: All information in this video is compiled from trustworthy and reliable news sources. However, the content is only intended to provide information, helping viewers broaden their understanding and have a more multi-dimensional view of famous people. We do not intend to offend or harm anyone. We do not claim that all the information in the video is entirely accurate or complete. However, we do not distort or misrepresent the origins of the information we present. Therefore, we hope viewers will refer to information from many sources to get the most comprehensive perspective. The Celebrity Buzz YouTube channel also featured videos promoting false rumors about other celebrities testifying at Combs' trial, including actors George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Ice Cube, as well as rapper 50 Cent and others. Snopes contacted a manager of the YouTube channel by email to ask several questions, including if they owned more than one channel and whether their goal was to publish fabricated rumors for the goal of YouTube advertising revenue. Pitt's name briefly mentioned in court While users fabricated the rumor of Pitt testifying at Combs' trial, USA Today reported that Pitt's name did briefly come up in court, though the matter just concerned a mention of one of his films: As former assistant Mia's testimony continued June 2 in the Sean "Diddy" Combs trial, she alleged that in 2012 she witnessed a discussion between Combs and Ventura Fine escalate at the premiere of the Brad Pitt film "Killing Them Softly," during the Cannes Film Festival in France. She claimed she saw Combs grit his teeth while digging his nails into Ventura Fine's arm, and eventually insisted that Ventura Fine leave, which she did. For further reading, Snopes previously investigated other false claims in which users alleged actors Jim Carrey and Eddie Murphy testified at Combs' trial.
