  • Last Updated on December 7, 2022 by Neelam Singh Quick Take A video on social media promotes herbal syrup claiming it can assist in lung detoxification using natural ingredients. We fact-checked and found the claim is Half True. The Claim A video on Facebook promotes an ayurvedic product named Zero Tar sold by a website named Hindrishiayurveda.in. The video claims that consumption of this product can assist in lung detoxification with natural ingredients. The product claims to cure lungs affected by pollution and weather changes. The video has received 20,000 views till we last checked. Fact Check Can Ayurvedic syrup assist in lung detoxification? Not exactly. We could not find any evidence that shows how an ayurvedic syrup detoxifies the lungs. The available evidence only suggests that ayurvedic syrup cannot detoxify the lungs. Ayurvedic syrups can strengthen immunity to improve lung function. Ayurvedic syrup detoxifies the lungs is a highly debated topic on social media. To understand more about the claim, we asked Dr. P Rammanohar, Research Director, Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda to explain the impact of ayurvedic syrups on lung health. To this, he said, “No detox syrup is available in Ayurveda that can cure lung damage. People with lung disease must opt for proper treatment to prevent further damage.” Pulmonologist Dr. Sarthak A Rastogi also informs that, “There is no need for a lung detox diet. Eating a well-balanced diet that has all vitamins and minerals is enough.” Can Ayurveda detox lungs? Not exactly. Detox word means a process or a period in which people abstain from toxic or unhealthy substances. This definition recommends people not to eat specific food items to help the body rewind to its original state. But the video on Facebook claims the opposite of what detox word means. The video recommends having syrup to detoxify the lungs. There is no evidence to prove how an ayurvedic syrup can detoxify the lungs. THIP MEDIA has previously debunked herbal syrup detox lungs and informed that lungs are self-cleaning organs that will heal themselves.
