  • Last Updated on November 24, 2023 by Neelam Singh Quick Take In a social media video CNN host Wolf Blitzer and the physician Dr. Oz are claiming that a new drug can cure diabetes. We fact-checked and found the claim to be False. The video of the CNN host has a fake sound that doesn’t match their mouth, and they never actually said the things in the video. The Claim A Facebook video began with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer stating that “An American doctor said he will pay a million dollars to anyone who cannot cure diabetes with his new drug. The new medicine normalizes blood sugar levels after the first use”. Also, Dr. Oz is seen saying “I guarantee you that your blood sugar levels will return to normal in three days. All symptoms will disappear within two weeks and diabetes will never return. 100,000 Americans have already tried the medicine on themselves and got rid of diabetes”. Fact Check Are a CNN host and a physician endorsing a new drug that can cure diabetes? No. We analyzed the claimed video and found that the CNN host and the physician are not endorsing a new drug that can cure diabetes. The video is a deepfake and it has digitally added audio that does not synchronize with the lip movements of the people shown. Moreover, we found no documented evidence of these people ever making the statements as claimed in the video. As of now, there is no cure for diabetes. Also, this isn’t the first time we have found inconsistent claims that try to cure diabetes using quick remedies. In a story, we previously debunked that drinking okra soaked in water cures diabetes. In another story, we refuted that the herb Brahmi can control diabetes. Yet another story claimed that diabetes could be cured with herbs in just 90 days.
