  • FACT CHECK: Did Dennis Rodman Wear A T-Shirt Saying, ‘Your Mask Is As Useless As Joe Biden’? An image shared on Facebook over 4,700 times purportedly shows former NBA player Dennis Rodman wearing a shirt emblazoned with the text, ‘Your mask is as useless as Joe Biden.” Verdict: False Rodman’s shirt in the photo has been digitally altered. Fact Check: The Facebook image shows Rodman wearing a black t-shirt emblazoned with what appears to be a face mask with an “x” drawn through it. Text around the mask reads: “Your mask is as useless as Joe Biden.” (RELATED: Did Ron DeSantis Pose For A Photo Holding Up This Anti-Mask Shirt?) The picture, however, appears to be doctored. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found the original, undoctored photo was taken in 2018, well before the COVID-19 pandemic and before President Joe Biden was elected. The original photo shows Rodman wearing a black t-shirt with text reading: “PotCoin.com” and “Peace starts in Singapore.” “Retired American professional basketball player Dennis Rodman speaks to the press as he arrives at Changi International airport ahead of US-North Korea summit in Singapore on June 11, 2018,” reads the caption on Getty Images. “North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump meet on June 12 for an unprecedented summit in an attempt to address the last festering legacy of the Cold War, with the US President calling it a ‘one time shot’ at peace.” Rodman attended the summit in Singapore, which was held between former President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to Reuters. The two leaders later met in Hanoi in 2019, though no agreements were reached, the outlet reported. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently recommends individuals ages 2 and older who are not fully vaccinated to wear masks in public indoor spaces to help protect against COVID-19. The CDC also recommends fully vaccinated individuals who live in places with high or substantial COVID-19 transmission wear masks indoors to help curb the spread of the Delta variant.
