In March 2026, screenshots of a fundraising email from the office of U.S. President Donald Trump made the rounds. "This is President Donald J. Trump," the circulated images read. "For the very first time ever, I'm opening up spots on the National Security Briefing Membership."
The images spread on multiple platforms, including a Facebook post (archived) with more than 37,000 reactions that read:
Donald Trump is now offering donors access to what he calls "National Security Briefings" in exchange for campaign contributions.
In a fundraising email sent today, Trump urges supporters to join an "elite group" that will receive "private national security briefings" and "unfiltered updates" from him about foreign adversaries, border threats, and what he calls "deep state sabotage."
Snopes received multiple reader messages seeking more information, and several commenters expressed doubt on social media posts that the claim that Trump offered access to national security briefings was real.
The fundraising email was authentic. On March 12, 2026, subscribers to a mailing list received the message from "contact@win.donaldjtrump.com" — an email address connected to the official, Trump-owned web domain donaldjtrump.com.
The message was publicly available on the website PoliticalEmails.org — an online archive of political emails we've referenced in multiple stories.
"I'm making this announcement public for the first time," the subject line said. It read, in part:
These final spots are reserved for my strongest supporters (YOU'RE ONE OF THEM!). This is no ordinary membership.
As a National Security Briefing Member, you'll receive my private national security briefings, unfiltered updates on the threats facing America. The straight truth on border invasions, foreign adversaries, deep state sabotage, and every danger the fake news hides.
You'll get the inside scoop DIRECT from me, President Trump, the leader who's rebuilt the greatest military in history, and put America First like no one else.
I'm the strong commander who stares down tyrants, obliterates terrorists, and never backs down. This is for patriots ready to stand with that kind of unbreakable strength. Not for the weak or the wavering.
The email, which was paid for by Never Surrender Inc. (Trump's primary leadership PAC), was missing key details, such as how the briefings would be disseminated, how much a supporter would have to donate to receive this access or whether the information shared would be unclassified. We reached out to the White House seeking this information and did not immediately receive a response. We will update this story if we do.
Though the email claimed Trump made a "special announcement to the public an hour ago," the message did not specify what the announcement was referring to.
According to CNN, the links featured in the email (which are not archived on PoliticalEmails.org) directed users to a donation page.
