Our Probe
Reverse searching keyframes of the viral video led us to a video report about this incident, containing multiple videos shot from different angles. According to it, this video showed a violent road rage attack in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The suspect, identified by the police as 56-year-old Vincent Jean was charged with first-degree attempted murder and third-degree assault by auto.
Using this clue, we found several media reports about the incident from April 2022. According to reports, a man named Vincent Jean ran over 23-year-old Morgan Scott three times on April 12, 2022. This incident followed a minor collision between the two, during which Scott decided to take pictures of the license plate of Jean's vehicle, triggering the attack.
Notably, Scott miraculously survived the brutal attack with fractures, lacerations, and broken bones all over the body. Jean, on the other hand, had reportedly claimed that he never saw the woman, denied being involved in the accident, and asserted that his car had slipped.
Quoting Scott’s family, a report by Dailymail stated that the attack was not the result of any domestic dispute, adding that the man was a complete stranger to the victim. Scott’s family had also set up a GoFundMe page for her medical costs, where a video of Scott recovering and getting better from her injuries was shared on September 7, 2022.
Thus, it is clear that the narrative passed off with the viral video of a horrific car attack is baseless.
