Fact Check
Did a Chinese official say body tattoos can help fight Covid-19?
No. As of now, we have no official reports that can show Chinese officials have recommended tattoos to fight Covid-19.
A false social media post shows woman removing a tattoo using candle wax, nail polish remover, aspirin, foam and another incomprehensible product.
China has the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention to prepare and manage strategies against pandemics like Covid. We found no evidence of an organization named China’s epidemic prevention and control.
Another post on social media said that colloidal silver treats almost any type of health issues, including COVID-19.
We also ran a Google reverse image search and found that the name of the man in the photo is Jia Zhuanjia. The videos of this man are published on Doyuin which is the name used for TikTok in China. After translating the titles of these videos into the English language, we found that these videos are made only for fun. The title of first video claimed ‘Make fun of life everyone, don’t take it seriously, next time I’ll act a little more fake’. The second claimed ‘Give life some fun, if you’re serious, you’ll lose’ and the third claimed ‘Zhuan’s house, happy and decompressed’.
Besides this, we could not find any details or the actual photo of Jia Dakong.
