  • A video of a woman gymnast is viral on social media as the performance of Indian athlete Shubhshree Udaysingh More at the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup 2025. The 1.42-minute clip shows a woman performing a ball routine on a professional competition floor. Rhythmic gymnastics, which combines dance, acrobatics and gymnastics, uses five main handheld apparatuses for individual routines: Rope, Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon. Participants are judged on the basis of their artistry, execution, and difficulty. The FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup is held annually, except in Olympic years, over an entire season. Last year it was held in Italy and concluded on July 18 to 20. A user named Desh Kapoor shared the video on Facebook claiming that the woman in the video was Shubhshree Udaysingh More, daughter of a railway police constable from Satara district, and that she was performing the routine at FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup 2025. At the time of this article being written, the post has had over 6,000 views and 59 shares. (Archive) The same video was posted on Facebook by another user, Waseem Altaf, with the same claim. It has gathered over 9,000 views. (Archive) On Instagram, the same video was posted with a similar claim by a user named Coach P R Suthar (coach_pr_suth), who has over 4,000 followers. (Archive) View this post on Instagram The video is also viral on messaging platform WhatsApp as showing Indian gymnast Shubhshree. Fact Check To verify the the claim that the gymnast in the viral clip is Shubhshree Udaysingh More from India, we performed a reverse image search on some key frames from the video. This led us to a YouTube video shared by the World Gymnastics channel. The video is titled “Hoop & Ball Finals – Rhythmic Gymnastics Individuals at the 2023 World Championships in Valencia”. At the 22.26-minute mark in the video, the gymnast in the viral clip appears on the performance arena. She is identified as Sofia Raffaeli. The performance, the outfit, and the background confirm that the viral clip shows the same gymnast from the same event. Check the comparison below: This confirms that the viral video is not of Indian gymnast Shubhshree More, but of Italian athlete Sofia Raffaeli. Sofia is an Italian individual rhythmic gymnast who won four medals at the 2023 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships. To know more about ‘Shubhshree Udaysingh More’, the name mentioned in the viral social media claims, we performed a keyword search. On the World Gymnastics website, we found details of More Shubhashree, who in fact, participated in the 2023 FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior World Championships held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Below is a video of her performance at the 2023 Rhythmic Junior Worlds Qualifications round. To conclude, the viral video of the woman gymnast does not show Indian athlete Shubhshree Udaysingh More. It is of Italian gymnast Sofia Raffaeli from the 2023 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championship.
