The clip is from 2015 and shows Aamir Khan reacting to Salman Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'.
As Shah Rukh Khan's most recent blockbuster "Jawan” continues to make waves at the box office, a video featuring fellow actor Aamir Khan made the rounds on social media.
In it, Aamir allegedly praised “Jawan”, saying in Hindi and English, "Have you seen the movie? Great movie, very good movie. Best film and the best performance of his career. I am requesting everyone should watch this movie. Again and again, watch this movie."
Sharing the video, one person wrote on Facebook, "Amir Khan Jawan review.” The archived version of the post can be seen here.
India Today’s investigation, however, found that the video is not related to “Jawan” at all. It is from 2015 and shows Aamir Khan's reaction to “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”.
OUR PROBE
A reverse search of keyframes from the video led us to the verified YouTube channel of IANS TV. There, we found a similar video uploaded on July 20, 2015, titled: "Caught! Aamir Khan Crying after watching Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”
At the 30-second mark, Aamir Khan made a similar statement. He said, "Have you seen the movie? Great movie, very good movie. Kabir Khan made a great film. Best film and the best performance of Salman Khan in his entire career.
I am requesting everyone should watch this movie. Again and again, watch this movie. I am very happy. Congratulations to the Writer, Director and the whole team. Even the child has done a fabulous job."
This proved that the video being shared was not just old but edited out of context. It had nothing to do with “Jawan” at all.
IndiaTV, Eros Now, ABP News, The Indian Express, The Express Tribune and the others media outlets also published reports about the same video at the time.
“Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, starring Salman Khan, opened at the box office in July 2015.
Has Aamir Khan reacted to SRK's 'Jawan' yet?
At the time of writing this report, there were no news reports about a public statement on “Jawan” by Aamir Khan. Also, Aamir Khan is not on any social media platform.
It’s noteworthy, however, that both Khans attended the “Gadar 2” success bash recently and were photographed with Sunny and Bobby Deol.
