They play a vital part in nature’s balance and ecosystems, which can affect human health, world economy, food production, etc. There are millions of bird species on the Earth. Birds have streamlined bodies that are covered with feathers which reduce resistance to air during flight. There are many birds on the Earth that have stunning colours, patterns and behaviours. A large number of people all over the world enjoy bird watching. A video of two beautiful colourful and exotic birds perched on a tree branch is being widely shared on social media. These birds are ornate and have unique appearance with patterns and features resembling hats. We can see beads decorated on their feathers. The beaks and the neck also have silver decorations. This video is in circulation with captions ‘Amazing Japanese Birds. Pajaros Japoneses’. ‘Rare bird species’. Fact Check: The claim is False. The video is AI-generated. The birds seen in the video are not found in nature. When we extracted keyframes from the video and searched, we found an X post shared by an account named Science Girl with the caption “A King and his Queen. AI”. The video was taken from another X account named Zhang Nuonuo, which shared the same video on November 5, 2024. When checked the comments, we could confirm that the video was AI-generated. We can see a very high confidence score in ai generated and stable diffusion. The score on ai generated is 0.98 and the score of stable diffusion is 0.95. When we verified the video using the hive moderation AI detection tool, we found that the video was 98.4 % likely to be a deepfake or AI-generated. Here are some other X users sharing the video with the caption AI-generated. When we searched further, we found a few similar videos published on social media handles of birds which look similar to the birds in the viral video, with captions like beautiful birds, rare birds, etc. We found several other similar videos of birds also generated using AI.
