  • In February 2025, videos allegedly showing Barron Trump, the youngest son of U.S. President Donald Trump, performing on "America's Got Talent" spread on social media. One TikTok post (archived) featuring such footage amassed more than 490,000 views and had a caption reading: "Barron Trump singing on America's got talent." Similar clips appeared on X, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube, leading some viewers to believe that Donald Trump's son participated in the televised talent show competition. However, the videos were not real. They showed telltale signs of being generated using artificial intelligence (AI) software and in some cases were explicitly labeled as AI-generated. Additionally, search engine results show that no reputable news outlets reported on Barron Trump performing on the show, an event that, given his status as the son of a U.S. president, would have attracted widespread media coverage. Viral videos were AI-generated Some of the videos contained explicit disclaimers indicating that they were AI-generated. For instance, one YouTube video's description read: "This song was created with the help of A.I. technology and does not represent the thoughts or attitudes of the imitated artists in any way." Another TikTok video, which matched the TikTok post above with more than 490,000 views, was labeled as an "AI Cover," with a tag that said: "Creator labeled as AI-generated." Another video on YouTube was titled "Barron Trump Singing on America's Got Talent | AI Cover" and its description read (emphasis in bold added): Barron Trump, Donald Trump, and Elon Musk surprise everyone with a special performance on *America's Got Talent*. The trio delivers an exciting and unexpected moment, keeping the audience captivated. Don't miss this unique performance! (This video may utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to generate content, including but not limited to voice, images, animations, and text. Despite these disclaimers, some viewers still seemed to believe the videos were authentic. (YouTube channel Barron Trump Fan Clubs) However, the clips showed clear signs of AI generation, including unnatural lip movements that did not sync with the audio and other visual inconsistencies, such as distorted facial expressions and the younger Trump's hand in a pocket that doesn't exist on normal jackets. LeadStories, a fact-checking organization, investigated one of the videos featuring Barron Trump, noting the "shape of the podium changed during the performance, steps at the back of the podium appeared and changed width, a microphone seemingly appeared out of nowhere and in some shots a sign appeared above the podium with weird, unreadable lettering." The fabricated videos didn't just rely on AI-generated footage. In the clips, AI-generated scenes of Barron singing were blended with authentic footage from "America's Got Talent," potentially increasing confusion and making the deception more convincing. This is not the first time AI-generated videos allegedly featuring Barron Trump have spread online. In December 2024, similar fake videos appeared on social media primarily featuring AI-generated songs about Barron's support for his father. Snopes has a series of articles on how to identify AI-generated material online and has frequently covered such deepfakes before.
