  • Fact Check: Emmanuel Macron Did Not Ignore PM Modi At AI Conference In France, Viral Claim Is FAKE The claim that French President Emmanuel Macron ignored PM Narendra Modi at an AI conference in France is false. A selectively clipped video from the event is being shared to spread political propaganda. By: Abhishek Parashar - Published: Feb 17, 2025 at 09:41 AM - New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video clip is being shared on social media with claims that French President Emmanuel Macron ignored Narendra Modi at an event during his recent visit to France. The viral video clip suggests that while Macron greeted other leaders including US Vice President JD Vance, he deliberately ignored Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, Vishvas News in its investigation found this claim to be false. The video clip is from the AI Conference 2025 held in Paris, where Modi and Macron attended the event together. There were many instances when Modi and Macron were seen hugging and interacting warmly. Additionally, during the event, Macron invited Modi onto the stage. What is viral? Facebook user ‘Jeet Singh Yadav’ shared the viral video clip with the caption, “ED should take cognizance… I did not shake hands with the Vishwaguru!…” Several users across different social media platforms have shared this video clip with similar claims. Even some Congress leaders have also shared this clip from their official handles, calling it an ‘insult’ to PM Modi. Investigation However, according to a statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on February 11, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the co-chair of the AI Action Summit held in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. President Emmanuel Macron personally invited Modi to deliver the inaugural address as co-chair of the summit. In his speech, Modi emphasised that the world is at the dawn of the AI era, where this technology is rapidly shaping politics, economy, security, and society. The video of this event is available in many reports. The full video of this conference is available on the official YouTube channel of the news agency AP. At the 8.47-minute mark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be seen arriving at the conference alongside Macron. He then greets other leaders, including US Vice President JD Vance, before taking his seat next to Modi. He then addresses the audience at the 14.22-minute mark and invites Modi to the stage at 17.15-minutes. The two leaders then shared a warm embrace. During this visit, Macron hosted a dinner for Modi at the Elysee Palace, where both were seen hugging each other for an extended moment. Macron also posted a video from his official X account, warmly welcoming PM Modi upon his arrival in Paris. Additionally, Narendra Modi shared pictures on his official X handle after his France visit, showing Macron bidding him farewell at the airport. Our investigation confirms that the viral video clip captures only a particular moment, which is being shared out of context. We reached out to J P Ranjan, a foreign affairs journalist at Dainik Jagran, regarding the viral video clip. He refuted the claim as political propaganda and emphasised that Modi’s France visit was successful. Conclusion: The claim that French President Emmanuel Macron ignored PM Narendra Modi at an AI conference in France is false. A selectively clipped video from the event is being shared to spread political propaganda.
