New Delhi (Vishvas News). A terrifying video of a plane crash is going viral on social media, where a small aircraft is seen crashing while attempting to take off on a runway. Users are sharing this video claiming that it shows the moment Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s plane crashed.
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found this claim to be misleading. The viral video is not from India but from Venezuela, and dates back to October 2025. While it is true that Deputy CM Ajit Pawar passed away recently after his plane crashed during landing in Baramati, killing all five people on board, this specific video is unrelated to that tragedy.
What is in the viral post?
Facebook user ‘Sarkari Jijaji’ (Archive) shared the viral video on January 28, 2026, linking it to Ajit Pawar’s plane crash. However, the user added a disclaimer saying they could not verify the authenticity of the video. The caption read: “A video has surfaced of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s plane crash. We cannot confirm whether this video is authentic or not.”
Investigation
To begin the investigation, we conducted a Google Lens search using relevant keywords and keyframes. During the search, we found reports from ‘The Mirror‘, ‘India Today‘, and ‘Moneycontrol‘ dated October 2025, which featured the same viral footage. According to these reports, the incident took place at the ‘Paramillo Airport’ in Táchira, Venezuela. On October 23, 2025, a private Piper Cheyenne aircraft crashed during takeoff, resulting in the deaths of two crew members.
What happened to Ajit Pawar’s plane?
On the morning of Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at approximately 8:45 AM, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar passed away in a plane crash. He was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati when his chartered aircraft (Learjet 45, registration VT-SSK) crashed during landing at the Baramati airport. According to DGCA and police reports, a total of five people died in this accident, including Ajit Pawar, his PSO Vidip Jadhav, attendant Pinky Mali, and two pilots.
There is a significant demographic difference between the viral video and the Baramati accident. In the viral video, high and dense mountains are clearly visible, whereas the area around Baramati Airport is not mountainous.
The viral video shows a plane crash during takeoff, while Pawar’s plane crashed during landing in dense fog.
Regarding this, we contacted Samiullah Khan, Senior Correspondent for Mid-day, Mumbai. He confirmed, “The video being circulated on social media claiming to be Ajit Pawar’s plane accident is completely misleading. That footage is not from Baramati. The accident in Baramati happened during landing, whereas the viral video shows a plane crashing during takeoff.”
The Facebook user ‘Sarkari Jijaji’, who shared the viral post, has over 4000 followers.
