Several posts on X (formerly Twitter) have shared a nearly two-minute-long video of what appears to be a funeral procession followed by an explosion. Posts on social media claim that Israel carried out an attack on Palestinians by putting a "time bomb" inside the body of a "terrorist" before giving the body back to Palestinians. However, the video is old and unrelated to the Israel-Hamas war. As per news report, the video is from 2012 and shows an explosion during a funeral procession in Syria. What we found A reverse image search on the keyframes of the video led us to the a 44-second clip of the same video (archived here) published by Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) News on July 2, 2012. The video is captioned, "Video footage from Syria appears to show an explosion ripping through a funeral procession near Damascus." Screenshot of the same video uploaded by ABC News on July 2, 2012. (Source: ABC News) The same video was published by NBC News in 2012. We also found news reports by CNN and the Los Angeles Times that described the scenes and reported that the bombing happened on June 30, 2012, in Zamalka, a suburb near Damascus, the capital of Syria. People had reportedly gathered for the funeral of a man who was allegedly killed by government forces when a car bomb exploded, killing at least 85 people and injuring more than 300. The verdict Clearly, the video is from 2012 and it reportedly shows an explosion at the funeral of a man in Syria.
