| - In October 2024, a Facebook post by the page YODA BBY ABY claimed to show a poster for "Gone in 60 Nanoseconds," allegedly an upcoming sequel to the 2000 action film "Gone in 60 Seconds." The post claimed Nicolas Cage, who starred in the 2000 film, would reprise his role as the car thief Memphis Raines in the sequel, which according to the post was set to hit theaters in May 2025. The text of the post (archived) read as follows:
GONE IN 60 SECONDS SEQUEL!!! NIC CAGE!!!

At the time of this writing the post had received around 25,000 reactions and 1,800 comments, some of which seemed to interpret the rumor as a factual recounting of real-life events. For example, one commenter wrote (archived): "Such great news!!! Wow!!! Can hardly wait!!!" Another wrote (archived): "I'm ready for this..."
The 2000 "Gone in 60 Seconds" movie was itself a remake of a 1974 film of the same name, directed by H. B. Halicki. A planned sequel to the 1974 film was never completed due to Halicki's death in an on-set accident. Footage from that unfinished film was eventually included as a bonus feature on the 2003 DVD release of another Halicki film, "Deadline Auto Theft," which was originally released in 1983.
However, there was no evidence that a real "Gone in 60 Seconds" sequel starring Cage was in the works in 2024. The results of a Google reverse-image search of the poster did not include any information about such a film from reputable news sources covering the alleged sequel.
Furthermore, Cage's IMDB page did not list a "Gone in 60 Seconds" sequel among the actor's upcoming projects.
Rather, the poster and the claim about an upcoming "Gone in 60 Seconds" sequel both originated from YODA BBY ABY — a Facebook page that describes its output as being satirical in nature. Its Intro section stated:
I'm just here to eat frogs, lift rocks and be satirical. The page is 100% satire and fake news.
The YODA BBY ABY page has a history of making up stories about films and TV shows for shares and comments, sometimes relying on artificial-intelligence (AI) writing software to create images. The AI image detector Is It AI? indicated that the alleged "Gone in 60 Nanoseconds" poster was "highly likely" AI-generated. A different AI detector, AI or Not, similarly reported that the image was "likely AI generated."
Snopes has addressed similar satirical claims from YODA BBY ABY about car-related film and TV projects in the past, including the assertion that Zac Efron would star in a 2024 reboot of the 1980s TV series "Knight Rider" and a rumor that a live-action "Cars" remake was set to release in 2025.
For background, here is why we alert readers to rumors created by sources that call their output humorous or satirical.
