  • Fact Check: Video claiming about the Mahabharata Chariot is MISLEADING The video was posted along with a caption written in Telugu. When we roughly translated the caption, it reads, "Mahabharata has been discovered in foreign countries. Wherever excavations are started, there are ancient Hindu Idols. Our Hindu Dharma is the greatest." Hyderabad: A video claiming that the chariot used in Mahabharata epic was unearthed during excavations in foreign countries and it is widely in circulation on social media. The video was posted along with a caption written in Telugu. When we roughly translated the caption, it reads, "Mahabharata has been discovered in foreign countries. Wherever excavations are started, there are ancient Hindu Idols. Our Hindu Dharma is the greatest." Fact Check: We did a reverse image search of the scenes in the viral video and found the location to be at the "Yin Xu" museum near An Yang city in China. We found more similar videos too. According to the official Chinese government website, the "Yin Xu" area is one of the oldest archaeological sites in China. Excavations were carried out here since the 19th century. Objects, bones, ornaments and chariots dating back to 3,300 years ago can be seen in the museum. Some other tools and objects belonging to the 'Shamid-11' reign who ruled between the 16th to mid 11th century BC, were also put on display. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Along with human bones, chariot wheels, various ornaments and utensils were also found in the ancient tombs here. https://whc.unesco.org/en/ We also found more photos of several chariots preserved in this museum. https://whc.unesco.org/en/ Hence, the claim is false. A 3,300-year-old Shang Dynasty chariot wheel in a Chinese museum is being misrepresented as that of the Mahabharata period.
