A Google News search did not include any results that would back up the claim Cheney had died. The claim appeared in a post on X (archived here) published on December 30, 2024. The caption read: BREAKING: Dick Cheney has died at age eighty-three. This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing: (Source: X screenshot taken on Tue Dec 31 15:16:14 2024 UTC) Lead Stories checked the X account that posted the claim and found "Parody artist" in its bio. Evidence of this is below: (Source: X screenshot taken on Tue Dec 31 16:55:27 2024 UTC) The next line in the bio was, "If you fell for my bait, you owe me eight dollars." Google News did not give Lead Stories any results that would confirm the legitimacy of the claim (archived here). Instead, the online news archive gave us results about Cheney's life and legacy.
