  • FACT CHECK: Image Claims To Show Indian Bridge An image shared on Threads claims to show a bridge in Mumbai, India. Verdict: Misleading The image is from China, not India. Fact Check: Indians voted in the second round of national elections on April 26, according to The Associated Press. Around 60.9% of the 160 million eligible voters cast a ballot, the outlet reported. Social media users are sharing an image of a multi-lane bridge and claiming it shows a bridge in Mumbai. One user wrote, “This is not USA or China. Mumbai India.” The image, in fact, does show a bridge in China. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the image is from a video posted on Facebook in November 2022. “Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in Shandong, China, a world-class cross-sea bridge,” the caption reads in Mandarin. The caption is also repeated in Thai and the page that shared the video also appears to be Thai. (RELATED: Are There Laws That Criminalize Giving Food And Drinks To Voters In Line At The Polls?) Check Your Fact verified that the video of the bridge is in China by using Google Maps. The U.S. Geological Survey website has satellite images of the bridge. “The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge spans over 24 kilometers (km) of water and helps reduce the travel time from Quingdao and Huangdao by 30 km,” part of the website’s page on the bridge reads. The bridge opened up in 2011, according to Xinhua. It took more than four years to build and cost between $1.5 billion and $8.8 billion, according to NBC News. India Today and Factly also debunked this claim.
