  • Fact Check: Former Cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin Has Not Adopted Hinduism, Misleading Post Goes Viral Vishvas News’ investigation found this claim to be misleading. The person who adopted Hinduism is not the famous cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin but a resident of Chandauli. - By: Pallavi Mishra - Published: Jul 5, 2024 at 12:23 PM - Updated: Jul 5, 2024 at 12:33 PM New Delhi (Vishvas News). A viral social media post claims that former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, along with his wife and son, has left Islam and adopted Hinduism. Vishvas News investigated this claim and found it to be misleading. The person who converted to Hinduism is not the famous cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, but a resident of Chandauli, a town in Uttar Pradesh, India. What’s viral? A Threads user named ‘dilip.kushwah.10′ shared a post claiming, “Former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, along with his wife and son, left Islam and adopted Hinduism at an Arya Samaj temple in Kashi. #Sanatan_Dharma was adopted..!! Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) BCCI.” Investigation To verify this claim, we conducted a keyword search and found no news about the former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin converting to Hinduism. However, we found a news article on ABP Live dated July 1, which stated, “A Muslim couple converted to Hinduism at an Arya Samaj temple in Bhojbir, Varanasi. Mohammad Azharuddin, a local resident from Chandauli, a town in Uttar Pradesh, adopted Sanatan Dharma along with his wife and son.” We also found a report on the Amar Ujala website, confirming that Mohammad Azharuddin, a resident of Bichhiya village in Chandauli, adopted Sanatan Dharma and changed his name to W Singh. He, along with his wife and son, underwent purification rituals and started reading Ramcharit Manas and Gita path. It became clear from these reports that the person who converted was not the cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin but a resident of Chandauli, a town in Uttar Pradesh, India. To further verify, we contacted Pramod Yadav, a journalist with Dainik Jagran, Varanasi, who confirmed that the person is a resident named Mohammad Azharuddin, not the former cricketer. The user who shared the misleading post has 55 followers on Threads and describes himself as a journalist. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation found this claim to be misleading. The person who adopted Hinduism is not the famous cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin but a resident of Chandauli. - Claim Review : Former Cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin Has Adopted Hinduism - Claimed By : Threads user - Fact Check : False Know the truth!
