Fact :The video was shot during the launch of a movie where Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan is seen performing dangerous stunts in 2014
Andhra Pradesh government has launched a programme named ‘Adudam Andhra’ to promote sports and athletes. Sports Minister Roja and SAF chairman Byreddy Siddharth Reddy participated in the launch of a video and brochure release relating to the programme on December 1, 2023.
Amidst this, a video shows a person clad in a white dress performing Karate stunts. While he tries to break the tiles on fire with his head, his hair catches fire and people run to help him.
This video is in circulation with the claim that the person in the video is an MLA from Srikalahasthi, Andhra Pradesh, Madhusudan Reddy. The accident took place when he participated in a programme called “Adudam Andhra” meaning “Let's play Andhra”.
The claim in Telugu goes as: “శ్రీకాళహస్తి ఎమ్మెల్యే మధుసూధన్ రెడ్డి. ఆడుదాం ఆంధ్రా" ప్రోగ్రాం లో భాగంగా తన విజ్ఞానాన్ని (కరాటే ప్రతిభను) పై విధంగా ప్రదర్శించారు....ఇంకా నయం గోరంట్ల మాధవ్ ఆడే ఆట ప్రదర్శించ లేదు” Biyyapu Madhusudhan Reddy
When translated, it claims: “Srikalahasthi MLA Madhusudan Reddy has demonstrated his Karate skills at a programme called 'Aadudam Andhra'. Good that he did not display his skills in the game played by YSRC MP Gorantla Madhav, who is facing charges of sexual abuse."
Fact Check:
The claim is False. The video does not show Srikalahasthi MLA Biyyapu Madhusudan Reddy participating in the Adudam Andhra programme.
When we searched using the name Biyyapu Madhusudan Reddy, we did not find any such videos on the internet.
When searched for Aadudam Andhra program details, we found news articles stating that Andhra Pradesh’s Sports Minister RK Roja, SAAP (Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh) Chairman Byreddy Siddharth Reddy, Principal Secretary PS Pradyumna and SAAP MD Dhayanachandra briefed the media about the upcoming mega sports festival – ‘Aadudam Andhra’. They also released the brochure for the event. The minister also informed that knock-out competitions will be held for 5 competitive sports, including Cricket, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Badminton, and Volleyball, separately for both genders, men and women, across the state at 5 levels (village, Mandal, constituency, district, and state).'
Biyyapu Madhusudan Reddy did not participate in any of the events of Aadudam Andhra.
When we performed a reverse image search using the key frames extracted, we found that the video shows Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan performing Karate stunts and not Srikalahasthi MLA.
A YouTube channel named Galatta Tamil published the viral video with the title “Shocking accident for Mansoor Ali Khan at Adhiradi movie launch” on January 6, 2014. In the video, we can see actor Mansoor Ali Khan doing stunts.
We also found another video published by Galatta Tamil where we can see Mansoor Ali Khan performing several other stunts at the movie launch Adhiradi.
According to IMDb, the movie Adhiradi was written and performed by Mansoor Ali Khan and was released in October 2015.
Hence, the video of a person performing karate stunts on stage is of Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan and not Srikalahasthi MLA Biyyapu Madhusudan Reddy. The claim is False.
