  • On February 28, the United States and Israel carried out missile attacks in various places in Iran, including the capital Tehran. In response to this incident, Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks on US bases in the Middle East. In this context, a video has been circulated on social media claiming to show a scene of an Iranian attack on Israel. See posts circulated on Facebook with this claim here (Archive), here (Archive). Fact Check The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation reveals that the circulated video is not of any Iranian attack on Israel. In reality, a video of a fire at a petrol pump in Syria in 2025 has been circulated with the discussed claim. Investigating this matter, a video published on April 23, 2025, was found on the Facebook page of the Syrian online media ‘راديو طيف’. The footage circulated with the discussed claim matches that video. The caption of the said video claims that this is a video of a massive fire incident at a petrol pump in the city of Al-Bab. At that time, various videos (1, 2, 3) of the said incident were seen circulating on social media. Subsequently, another video with a different frame of the said incident was found broadcast on a YouTube channel named ‘Smart multimedia’. In that video, a signboard of a shop named “شام للديكور” can be seen. Subsequently, an advertisement video for a shop with the said name was found on a Facebook account named ‘أحمد الخضر’. In the caption of that video, the address of the shop is mentioned as Al-Bab city, Ring Road, opposite the Al-Baushi Mosque, next to the Al-Bab petrol pump. From a post published on April 23, 2025, on the X account of the Syrian Civil Defense, it is known that on April 22 (2025), a fire incident occurred at a petrol pump in the city of Al-Bab in the countryside of eastern Aleppo. Therefore, the video is not from recent times. Therefore, a video of a petrol pump fire in Syria in 2025 has been circulated claiming to be a recent scene of Iran’s attack on Israel; which is false.
