  • FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show Strykers in Germany? A video shared on Facebook claims to show Stryker armored personnel carriers meant for Ukraine being offloaded in Germany. Verdict: False The video was taken in October 2022. It occurred in South Korea, not Germany. Fact Check: The U.S. pledged 90 Strykers to Ukraine in January, according to a Defense Department news release. The U.S. is providing these vehicles to Ukraine to help the nation break through Russian defenses, The New York Times reported. The Facebook video shows Strykers being offloaded from a ship. The video’s caption reads, “90 American Stryker armored personnel carriers for Ukraine arrived in Germany.” The claim was also spread on Twitter. 90 American Stryker armored personnel carriers for #Ukraine arrived in #Germany. pic.twitter.com/WJYvvaobQU — NEXTA (@nexta_tv) March 4, 2023 This claim, however, is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from October 2022 and was taken in South Korea, according to DVIDS. The video caption reads, “Stryker vehicles from 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division are offloaded at the Port of Pyeongtaek, South Korea on Oct. 8, 2022.” Videos have emerged of Ukrainian troops training on American armored vehicles. For example, footage of Ukrainian troops training in Bradley IFV was released and published on social media.
